The main theme of the Concept House is the possibility of combining the beauty of the interior spaces with the wonder of the spectacular landscape offered by the beautiful location of Almenno San Salvatore, in the province of Bergamo. Thanks to the professionalism of architect Roberto Jones Locatelli and the exclusive solutions by Carminati Interiors, an environment was created that blends perfectly with the landscape.
In particular, the wall in the living area was demolished, allowing the surrounding territory to embrace the home through two magnificent sliding windows opening onto a terrace enhanced by a bioclimatic pergola.
The client requested the possibility of enjoying a modern interior with some traditional finishes, together with the opportunity to benefit from the beauty of the surrounding territory. Initially, the house had very few openings onto the landscape, with small windows that did not allow the feeling of being surrounded by nature.
The client also wanted a living area that could include a functional kitchen with quality finishes and a welcoming, evocative living room. Renovation work was also planned for the bathroom, to make it consistent with this aesthetic concept and to satisfy comfort requirements.
The architect, in collaboration with the interior designer and the Carminati Interiors design studio, carefully analysed the floor plan of the house to provide the right answers both for the living area and for the sleeping area.
The solution chosen for the living area was to demolish the wall and maintain a natural material throughout the rooms: wood, which pairs perfectly with white and with the minimal lines of the furnishings.
With this objective, the flooring of the kitchen and living room, as well as the cladding of the staircase connecting the levels of the structure, were made in brushed natural oak wood. Elements of this material are also used in the kitchen, recreating a striking and elegant shelf with crystal tops, and in the living area, where the television was inserted into a custom equipped wall with plasterboard volumes on the ceiling.
The entrance area is completed by a beautiful Chesterfield-style sofa, positioned in a portion of the hallway connecting the living area to the staircase leading to the sleeping area. Here too, the wonderful brushed oak flooring returns.
The living room consists of two highly functional sofas, thanks to their movable backrests. Between the two seats, an equipped wall was created for watching television, with a niche featuring an oak back panel. On the left side of the wall, a fireplace with a plasterboard structure was inserted, becoming the logical continuation of the small false ceiling created to house the LED spotlights.
The choice of these very minimal sofas in terms of footprint respects the concept used throughout the home: avoiding anything that might obstruct the breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. From this linear yet evocative living area, one can access the terrace directly through the first of the two sliding windows or reach the kitchen in just a few steps.
The kitchen, a black Artematica Vitrum by Valcucine, includes several recessed columns. The full-height columns contain a large American-style refrigerator and other appliances such as an electric oven, microwave oven and dishwasher. These columns also create a large pantry for storing food and tableware.
A functional island was also planned, with a five-burner hob and a practical sink integrated into the white top. This choice was intended to create continuity: the top falls in a waterfall effect towards the wall columns. On the opposite side, the worktop was extended to create a snack area for breakfast, served by four wood-coloured stools. On the second visible wall, two niches with oak backs and glass shelves were created.
In the upper part, a false ceiling was created to house the spotlights aimed at the cooking area and sink, while hiding the hood so as not to obstruct the view of the landscape. Two spotlights were inserted in the false ceiling above the first niche and two more above the second niche, creating an elegant and seductive play of colours.
From the island, one can reach the terrace directly through the sliding window and enter a well-finished outdoor space with a glass parapet and a beautiful outdoor table with four chairs. Thanks to the bioclimatic pergola, it is possible to create an evocative shaded area to enjoy in any season.
To preserve the concept of this project, the same approach was adopted in the sleeping area, in particular by creating a bedroom with a beautiful open bathroom: a solution that emphasises modernity while retaining some traditional references, such as classic oak wood finishes.
In the bathroom, the flooring was made in oak and the large vanity unit features doors in the same wood, with a light marble surface veined in various shades of grey. The washbasin was integrated into the surface, maintaining the marble solution for the side claddings as well. A large mirror was installed along the full length of the unit, giving the bathroom a greater sense of space.
The cladding was applied only to the wall with the vanity unit, up to a height of approximately 150 cm, while the upper part was left white. A false ceiling was inserted to house LED spotlights. Opposite the bathroom unit, a wonderful shower enclosure was created, with an internal glass wall that allows those in the bedroom to see into the shower and vice versa. To make the whole more evocative, a large rain showerhead with chromotherapy function was placed in the central area.
All these solutions made it possible to create a particularly pleasant Concept House in terms of interior style, with linear and refined solutions and precious materials. The client declared himself very satisfied with the final result, which fully achieved his objectives through high-quality products such as the kitchen, all furnishing accessories and the adopted solutions.
