Aesthetics and functionality were the undisputed protagonists in the design of the villa, elements that led to the creation of simple yet highly versatile spaces. The architect’s intervention was fundamental in defining both the outdoor area and the interiors, with a refined comfort and enveloping design capable of welcoming not only those who live in the residence, but also guests, making their stay extremely pleasant.
The residence was conceived with a modern, minimal look. The outdoor spaces show perfect geometric forms, with volumes displaying a warm, sunny white. The effect is a pleasant contrast with the exposed concrete of the flooring and stairs and with the entrance to the home, characterised by a dark grey colour arranged in horizontal bands.
The client requested an exclusive design project and masterfully distributed spaces, where one could retreat without losing sight of conviviality and hospitality. Above all, the client wanted a bright villa with a swimming pool, an open space composed of kitchen, dining and relaxation areas, bedrooms with private bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes.
Unlike many contexts, the atmosphere of calm at Villa Modena is constant, from the exterior through to the sleeping area. This is probably another major strength of the property, created with passion and precision in order to offer a workmanlike result aligned with specific needs.
The compositional solution for the outdoor furniture is modern and focused on functionality, without neglecting the aesthetic impact of the dark colour standing out against the light walls. It is striking thanks to the versatility of the individual teak elements, capable of giving dynamism to the setting: the two-seater sofa and armchairs, with comfortable cushions in rich fabric, are perfect for relaxing moments outdoors.
The bright interior space is the result of an essential and modern design philosophy, fully welcoming contemporary design and capable of enhancing every corner of the house, making it unique in its strong personality.
The impact of the open space is surprising for the refinement of the mix between classical and modern style, with a contemporary kitchen and a living room with a clearly romantic taste. The result is a living area that underlines the character of the homeowners, especially attentive to details and to the use of eco-friendly materials.
Entering the home, one is welcomed into a spacious area where light and natural colours take centre stage: dove grey on the living room wall, beige mixed with hazelnut in the kitchen, wood and grey for the dining table. A precise intervention by the interior designer led to the creation of a custom-made kitchen, curated in every detail.
Plasterboard shapes the spaces, excellent for hiding air-conditioning systems and separating the various components while leaving air between pantry, columns and island. The different ceiling heights visually help separate the two main areas, dining and living.
A minimal lighting system was designed for the kitchen ceiling, composed of spotlights aimed specifically to enhance the linear composition and the glossy mirror-lacquered surfaces of the furnishings, in a warm dove-grey tone. The purity of the kitchen volumes is underlined by the Corian Clay top, an elegant and refined choice also used on the island with large drawers. The hood is almost invisible, built into the ceiling.
The dining area is extremely bright, bringing light and air throughout, in the perfect union between the classical character of the table and chairs and the completely minimal modernity of the kitchen. Natural light is free to spread everywhere during the day, while at night the elegance of the LED chandelier illuminates every space, embracing each corner with its sinuous form.
The peninsula and the composition of the wall columns in the snack and cooking areas reveal the functional character of the kitchen: practical, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. The dining area is therefore clearly defined without being completely separated from the rest of the house, with which it shares an evident and artfully balanced combination of materials.
The imposing walnut table, with pleasant artistic decorations, once again reveals the importance of sober contrasts and modern style, details that enhance every corner and give the residence a unified taste. The chairs, also in walnut, have traditional lines and soft forms, skilfully paired to preserve the perfect balance of the room.
Of particular value is the choice of parquet flooring with running planks: its cool sandy-brown colour enhances the kitchen, as does the rear brick wall in the same tone, with recessed TV screen so as not to interrupt continuity and overall harmony. The concealed lift-and-slide door and the fixed glazing bring brightness to the open space; the low floor track on which the door slides is barely visible. The solution is extremely refined and further underlines the class of this elegant residence.
Starting from a minimal set of basic elements and colours in the corridor, the interior designer developed a scenographic work of strong impact: the effect is surprisingly theatrical and pleasant. The intuition of painting the steps grey with a metallic effect is perfect for reflecting the light from the spotlights. In this way, continuous lighting is guaranteed, recessed laterally into the wall through masterful cuts that accompany those moving through the space and mark the ascent.
The orange-red and white colours combine with the parquet floor, creating chromatic effects that add dynamism and make the environment much more interesting. LED cuts indicate the entrance to the bedrooms, arranged skilfully and harmoniously with the white flush doors, which blend with the walls and cover their full height.
The complete effect of these plays of light, offered by the LED cuts in the walls, transforms the spaces into a prestigious and timeless work of art. Fashion changes over time, but an effective and highly functional solution for the distribution of space remains eternal.
